My first Makeblock order

I finally pulled the trigger on a CyberPi during a back to school sale. I was watching prices for a while and the discount was decent enough to convince me. It took about 5 days to reach Denver, which was fine. The packaging was good, and the CyberPi itself seems well-made. I was hoping for maybe a slightly bigger discount, but overall, for a first buy, I felt it was a good value.

Generally positive, small shipping hiccup

I ordered the xTool P2 and a few Acrylic Sheets. The laser cutter itself is fantastic, really impressed with the build quality and how it performs. Setup was straightforward. My only minor gripe was with the shipping notification; it was a bit delayed, so I wasn't entirely sure when it would actually show up. It arrived within the estimated window, though. Everything was well-packed and arrived undamaged. I'd definitely buy from them again, just wish the tracking updates were a little more on point.

Always reliable service

Another solid order from Makeblock. I've bought mBots and mBot Rangers from here before for our club, and this time I got a bunch of mBuild Modules. Everything came quickly, just like past orders. Never had an issue with their stuff, it's always good quality for what we need.

Good deal on mBot2

I grabbed an mBot2 for my nephew during a holiday sale. It was a pretty sweet deal, saved a good chunk. Shipping was free because I hit over a hundred bucks, which is always nice. It arrived in about a week, no problems. Felt like I got my money's worth.

What's the deal with their 'educator discount'? How do you even get that? Gotta be a teacher or something?

E Elizabeth 1 week ago
Yeah, usually you have to show proof you're an educator or part of a school. Sometimes they ask for a school ID or something official.

You typically have to contact them directly or fill out a form on their site for it. It's not just a public code. Worth it though, the discount can be pretty decent.

Anyone know if you can stack coupon codes on their site? Got a couple I'm hoping to use for a bigger order.

A Andrew Davis 2 weeks ago
Nah, I've never been able to. It's usually one code per order. Tried it before for a Black Friday thing and it just picks the best one.

Yeah, I think most online stores are like that now, just one at a time. It'd be awesome if you could though!

Is Makeblock like, a real company? Or just another one of those random robot kit places that pops up then vanishes? Asking before I drop serious cash.

S Sam Garcia 1 month ago
Totally legit. They've been around for ages and are big in schools and stuff. Not some fly-by-night operation.

Oh yeah, they're super legit. My school uses their stuff for our robotics club. Very reputable in the STEAM education world.

Are their robots like, the mBot or whatever, legit for a 5-year-old? Or is that pushing it? My kiddo is super into tech stuff.

O Olivia Gomez 1 week ago
Hmm, a 5-year-old might be a bit young for some of the detailed coding. Maybe look at something super basic like Codey Rocky first? mBot might be better for 7+.

My 6-year-old loved the mBot Neo! We mostly did the visual programming, and they picked it up really fast. You'd definitely be involved though.

Quick question for anyone who's ordered from Makeblock recently: how long does shipping usually take to like, Chicago? Need a kit for a project next month.

E Elizabeth T. 1 month ago
Mine took about a week and a half to get to Ohio, so Chicago might be similar. Not super fast but not terrible either.

Totally depends on what you order and if it's in stock. I got some mBuild modules in like 5 days, but a bigger robot kit took closer to two weeks for me.

Hey guys, thinking about getting the xTool P2. Anyone know what the warranty is like on those laser cutters? Just wanna make sure I'm covered.

B Brian T. 1 month ago
I think it's usually a year for their laser stuff, maybe more for some parts. My D1 had a pretty standard warranty when I got it last year.

J Justin M. 1 month ago
Yeah, I had an issue with my M1 after about 8 months and they sorted it out under warranty, no fuss. Pretty good experience actually.

Thinking of getting an mBot for my kid's school. Do these things come with batteries or do I need to buy those separately?

L Lisa Flores 1 month ago
Some models do, some don't. My mBot Neo came with a rechargeable battery, but an older mBot I bought needed AAs. Check the product page carefully.

E Eric Hill 4 weeks ago
AFAIK, the newer ones like mBot2 usually have rechargeable batteries included. Older ones might be a crapshoot.
